Motivations

Without a complete background, it is difficult to know why Robin Hood is motivated to take from the rich and give those stolen goods to the poor. Some Robin Hood stories tell of a landed nobleman who lost his family to the Sheriff of Nottingham and sought revenge. It is possible that he just recognized the injustice in the world and decided to do something about it. While his motivations do seem noble, it is important to note that he is stealing. His merry attitude helps make him a likable character who gets away with his illegal activities with our blessing.
